INTRO

This marks September Coffee's fourth collaboration with the Lamastus Family Estates. El Burro Lot E is a Geisha of exceptional expressiveness — showcasing lovely fresh raspberries, delicate jasmine, and sparkling tangerine from a farm that has earned an international reputation for some of the world's finest Geisha.

THE PRODUCER

The Lamastus Family has been producing coffee for four generations since 1918. Their three estates — Elida, El Burro, and Luito Geisha — are situated at very high elevations within a cool, stable microclimate in Chiriquí Province. The coffee trees grow surrounded by native cloud forest, which contributes to the extraordinary complexity and terroir of every lot. Their work with Geisha at altitude has established them as one of Panama's most celebrated coffee families.

THE PROCESS

The Natural process at El Burro involves:

  • 🍒 Cherry Selection — Hand-picked at optimal ripeness
  • Quality Sorting — Floated and sorted to remove defects
  • ☀️ Whole-Cherry Drying — Dried on raised beds with full fruit intact

Drying the coffee in cherry allows the fruit sugars to migrate into the bean, creating the distinctive sweetness and fruit-forward complexity that defines this Lot E expression.

THE CUP

A light body and long citric finish frame a cup that is bright and elegant, with exceptional aromatic clarity. This is Geisha at its most expressive — clean, precise, and beautifully complex.
