INTRO
Flower Child's first release of the year from Peru is a beautiful and opulent stunner. Roberto's Gesha is big on the body and berry-fruit aspects, with an ever-present florality that hits the senses particularly in the aromatics and finish — hints of lavender, rose and honeysuckle.
Cup notes include raspberry, fuji apple, cherry and a multitude of tropical fruits with an overall brilliant acidity. This is a really fun coffee, easy to brew in all styles.
THE PRODUCER
Roberto Carlos Palomino Flores is a young coffee farmer of only 25 years old who, this year, achieved excellent results with his coffees and is looking to expand his cultivated area. As a newly trained agricultural technician, he shares his knowledge with neighbouring farmers and has been laying the groundwork for an expansive nursery.
Roberto's trajectory is remarkable — a grower to watch closely in coming seasons as the full potential of La Rinconada's extraordinary terroir at 2,200 metres continues to reveal itself.
THE PROCESS
The Washed process at La Rinconada involves:
- 🍒 Selective Harvest — Hand-picked with very selective picking for only ripe cherries
- 💧 Cherry Washing & Flotation — Cherries washed to eliminate impurities; floaters removed and discarded
- 🧪 Initial Cherry Fermentation — Fermented for 18 hours in cherry
- 🔧 De-pulping — Cherries de-pulped after initial fermentation
- 🧪 Dry Parchment Fermentation — Further 36 hours dry fermentation with no water, until mucilage separates from parchment
- 💧 Washing — Beans washed to remove remaining mucilage
- ☀️ Shaded Bed Drying — Dried on shaded drying beds for approximately 20 days until moisture reaches a stable 10.5%
This extended two-stage fermentation followed by shaded drying is key to preserving the delicate floral aromatics and brilliant fruit clarity that make Roberto's Gesha so captivating.

Roberto's Gesha from La Rinconada delivers a full-bodied, luminously fruity cup with brilliant acidity and an extraordinary floral persistence. The berry notes — raspberry, cherry, blueberry — are the headline act, but the lavender, rose and honeysuckle florality that runs through every sip is what makes this coffee truly special.
