ABOUT THIS COFFEE & PRODUCER
From Pitalito, Huila, siblings Yessica and Diego Parra represent the fourth generation of a coffee-growing family whose roots stretch back to their great-grandfather’s first crops. Although coffee was always part of their lives, it wasn’t until Yessica began teaching at SENA, Colombia’s national learning service, that she discovered the vast potential of specialty coffee. She soon introduced her brother Diego to the field, and together they founded Diwan Coffee—a project born from passion and curiosity that has since evolved into a full-time pursuit.
While Diego focuses on fermentation and varietal profiling, Yessica oversees cupping, sourcing, and quality control. Their complementary skills have made Diwan a producer group to watch. In late 2024, they launched their brand’s first export, marking a major milestone in their family’s ongoing legacy.
At their farm, El Mirador, quality begins with careful cherry selection. Only the ripest cherries are hand-picked, then fermented in open tanks for 60 hours before being dried slowly over about 20 days under precise temperature control. The result is a coffee that embodies elegance, vibrancy, and balance.
WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE
We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Unblended to introduce this stunning Natural Gesha from Yessica and Diego. It’s expressive, clean, and full of life—everything we love about the variety and process when executed with precision.
The cup opens with bright cranberry acidity, followed by sangria-like sweetness and subtle spiced undertones that bring complexity without heaviness. As it cools, the texture turns creamy and round, with Rainier cherry and floral notes gliding through the finish.
This coffee is vivid yet refined, equally striking as a pourover or a modern espresso. A perfect representation of Colombia’s new generation of producers—passionate, meticulous, and pushing boundaries with every harvest.
