ABOUT THE PRODUCERS

High in the mountains of Tarqui sits Finca La Fuente, a small, meticulously run farm owned by Yobani Ramos and her husband Yaved Guarnizo. Perched between 1,825 and 2,000 meters above sea level at the very end of a rural road, the farm spans roughly six hectares planted with Caturra, Colombia, and Pink Bourbon.

Since the beginning of their relationship with their importing partners, Yobani and Yaved have deeply invested in elevating the quality of their coffee. They renovated their beneficio with tiled tanks designed for easy cleaning and installed new shaded drying beds that allow for slow, controlled drying — a key to their signature clarity and finesse.

FARM PRACTICES

La Fuente is run according to organic and biodynamic principles. Yaved, passionate about biodynamic agriculture, produces several types of compost teas and natural plant treatments to nourish the land while protecting the farm’s biodiversity.

The region’s cooler high-elevation climate encourages slow cherry maturation, which intensifies sweetness and enhances complex fruit development. Their cherries regularly show stunning flavors of papaya, lychee, and melon — a testament to both terroir and thoughtful cultivation.

IN THE CUP

This washed Variedad Colombia selection is refined, expressive, and beautifully clean. Expect red berries, layered fruit complexity, and an elegant structure that lingers with sweetness. It is a superb example of what Huila can produce when skill, elevation, and intention converge.

Yobani and Yaved continue to set the standard for excellence in Tarqui, and their dedication makes this one of the standout Colombian coffees of the season.

We recommend brewing with beans that are at least two weeks off roast. All beans are roasted to peak flavour at around 8-12 weeks. We have the option to either purchase standard beans (at least 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks off roast), or rested beans (at least 7 weeks off roast, no longer than 12). For peak flavour, if you are looking to use immediately, we recommend purchasing the rested beans. If you are adding to your rotation of beans, we recommend purchasing the standard and allowing the beans to naturally rest and mature whilst you rotate through other beans.
