Intro

Los Brujas is a vibrant, fruit-driven Gesha from Hacienda Barbara, grown in the volcanic highlands of Boquete, Panama. This lot highlights the playful, tropical side of Gesha when paired with careful natural processing.

The Producer

Hacienda Barbara, led by Hunter Tedman and Linda Arauz, is known for producing some of Panama’s most exciting specialty coffees through a combination of sustainable farming, varietal focus, and innovative processing. Los Brujas is the third farm in the Hacienda Barbara portfolio and sits in a particularly sheltered and biodiverse area of the Boquete region.

The Process

This Gesha was processed as a natural, with cherries harvested at optimal ripeness and dried whole. Fermentation is carefully managed at the Beneficio Bajareque facility, where controlled yeast-driven techniques are used to enhance fruit expression without overwhelming the coffee’s structure. Slow, even drying preserves sweetness and amplifies the coffee’s tropical character.

In the Cup

The cup is immediately expressive and juicy. Bright tangerine acidity opens the experience, followed by layers of ripe strawberry and passion fruit. As the coffee cools, a playful sweetness reminiscent of mango jelly emerges, giving the cup a rounded, candy-like finish.
