Beschreibung
A bright, structured washed Kenyan from Rungeto Farmer’s Cooperative Society. Expect dark berries, currant jam, and a touch of rosehip.
250g
Karimikui Coffee Factory, established in 1966, serves smallholder farmers from the villages of Githureia, Gituba, and Kia Mugumo. Unusually for the region - where tea is dominant - coffee thrives here on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya at 1,600–1,800 masl.
Rungeto FCS was formed following the dissolution of Ngiriama FCS, bringing together the Karimikui, Kii, and Kiangoi factories. We've been working with Rungeto since 2016 and continue to be impressed by the clarity and depth of flavour their coffees deliver.
Continuous investment in infrastructure - including tiled fermentation tanks and water recycling systems — ensures both quality and sustainability remain front and centre.
Flavour Notes: Dark Berries, Currant Jam, Rosehip
What is the roast recency?
We recommend brewing with beans that are at least two weeks off roast. All beans are roasted to peak flavour at around 8-12 weeks. We have the option to either purchase standard beans (at least 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks off roast), or rested beans (at least 7 weeks off roast, no longer than 12). For peak flavour, if you are looking to use immediately, we recommend purchasing the rested beans. If you are adding to your rotation of beans, we recommend purchasing the standard and allowing the beans to naturally rest and mature whilst you rotate through other beans.
