INTRO From Tamiru Tadesse's ALO Coffee, sourced from the Nensebo Debo Station in West Arsi — a high-altitude natural bursting with tropical fruit. Jackfruit and mango sweetness lead, layered with blackberry depth and a refreshing melon lift. In the cup: jackfruit, blackberry, mango, and melon.

THE PRODUCER Tamiru, ALO Coffee's founder, once worked as a university lecturer and engineer before Ethiopia's Cup of Excellence inspired him to change course. He founded ALO Coffee with his wife Messi, aiming to bring the potential of high-altitude Sidama-area terroir to the world's attention. ALO Village had long been overlooked by the market due to its extreme altitude and small cherry size, but Tamiru believed that altitude was the key to more complex, purer flavours — a belief validated in 2021, when ALO Coffee took both 1st and 5th place at the Ethiopia Cup of Excellence, reshaping perceptions of the region's potential.

THE PROCESS This lot uses the Natural process: fresh cherries are slowly dried on African raised beds for approximately 22 days, a slow drying window designed to highlight the coffee's signature floral notes, tropical fruit sweetness, and delicate tea-like body — the foundation for the jackfruit, blackberry, mango, and melon character found in this cup.

THE CUP Tropical and vivid — jackfruit and mango sweetness up front, blackberry depth through the middle, and a clean, melon-like freshness on the finish. A striking result from one of West Arsi's most decorated new producers.
