INTRO
From the Rodríguez family's Finca Las Alasitas in Caranavi — a 20-hectare farm founded in 2014 as part of their Agricafe project, with 16 hectares dedicated to coffee. A sweet, refined, and gently fruited Geisha of quiet elegance. In the cup: green tea delicacy, vivid citrus brightness, and a tropical guava sweetness in the finish.
THE PRODUCER
Finca Las Alasitas was founded in 2014 by the Rodríguez family as a flagship expression of their Agricafe project — a vision for sustainable, high-quality coffee cultivation in Bolivia that can serve as both a model and an inspiration for other producers in the country. Situated at 1,650 MASL in Caranavi, La Paz, the farm benefits from a cool climate with gentle days and cold nights that slow cherry maturation significantly, allowing sugars to develop gradually and building the complexity and sweetness that define the cup. Bolivia remains one of South America's most underexplored specialty origins, and the Rodríguez family are among its most committed and quality-focused advocates.
Geisha, first collected from the coffee forests of Ethiopia in the 1930s and brought to global prominence at the 2005 Best of Panama competition, finds an compelling home in Caranavi's cool highland climate — where the slow ripening and distinct diurnal temperature range allow the variety's signature delicacy and aromatic complexity to develop with exceptional refinement.
THE PROCESS
The Washed process at Finca Las Alasitas involves:
🍒 Hand-picking — Cherries selectively harvested at peak ripeness 🔍 Sorting — Careful cherry selection before processing 🔧 Depulping — Outer skin removed before fermentation 🧪 Fermentation — Beans fermented to break down remaining mucilage 💧 Washing — Thoroughly washed to remove all fermentation residue ☀️ Drying — Dried to optimal moisture content, preserving the clarity and delicate aromatic structure of the Geisha
The meticulous washing and fermentation management is the defining step — by stripping back all fruit influence, the process allows the intrinsic character of the Geisha varietal and the cool Caranavi terroir to express themselves with full transparency and elegance.
THE CUP
A sweet, refined, and quietly elegant washed Geisha from one of Bolivia's most ambitious specialty projects — green tea delicacy and vivid citrus vibrancy give way to a gentle tropical guava sweetness in the finish. A coffee that speaks as much of a family's vision for Bolivian specialty coffee as it does of the extraordinary potential of Caranavi at altitude.
