INTRO
A very exciting release and Swerl's 2026 Swedish AeroPress Championship coffee: complex and versatile, adapting to how it's brewed. Floral and complex, tasting like jasmine and red plum, with a tropical edge. In the cup: jasmine, red plum, and tropical notes.
THE PRODUCER
This lot is the fifth iteration of Los Magníficos, designed so small lots of higher-quality coffee can still be bought despite their size. Most producers in the blend manage very small plots and deliver tiny amounts of coffee. Diana Quinayas, for example, contributed only 32 kg of parchment to this lot, far less than a full exportable bag, which would be too costly and time-consuming to mill and export alone. Rejecting it on size would push the smallholder to sell it to a larger buyer, likely at a lower price, to be blended anonymously into large regional lots with little traceability.
Los Magníficos aims to open opportunities and give smallholders steady ground to build from as they improve their post-harvest practices. Even small amounts of revenue make a difference, and it opens a place for community, dialogue, and learning that smallholders aren't normally offered.
THE PROCESS
Processing varies between producers. Each delivers their parchment to the Monkaaba bodega, where it is tasted, analysed, and chosen for this lot, and the lot is Washed.
Pooling carefully selected small lots from several producers is the defining structure here. It's what lets very small, high-quality deliveries reach the market, building the layered jasmine and red plum character.
THE CUP
Floral and complex: jasmine and red plum lead, with a tropical lift. Versatile enough to adapt to how it's brewed.
