INTRO

A naturally processed Gesha from one of Colombia's most celebrated farms. Paul and Kevin Doyle's Mikava Estate has become a benchmark for expressive, competition-grade Colombian coffee — and this lot delivers with the full elegance of the variety: peach, hibiscus, and violet in a cup that's floral, sweet, and deeply layered.

THE PRODUCER

Mikava Estate was founded in 2013 by Paul Doyle and his son Kevin — American coffee people who fell in love with Colombia and bought a 6-hectare farm overlooking the historic colonial town of Marsella in Risaralda. Coming from a background in wine as much as coffee, they brought carbonic maceration and experimental fermentation techniques to the farm from the start, focused from the beginning on rare, high-quality varietals including Gesha, Sudan Rume, and Ethiopian heirlooms.

Their approach paid off: in 2019 Mikava took first place at the Colombian Cup of Excellence with a record-breaking score of 92.71 — the highest in Colombian COE history, and the first time a naturally processed coffee had won. Their coffees have since become a staple for barista competitors around the world. Processing happens at the Marsella farm, where coffee is dried in a solar Marquesina on multi-tiered raised beds with temperature and humidity carefully monitored and controlled throughout.
