INTRO
A natural Gesha from the Torre terroir at Elida Estate, slow-dried in the open highland air. It develops a rich, silky structure and vibrant fruit character while retaining the clarity and elegance of the Torre terroir.
THE PRODUCER
Lamastus Family Estates is a fourth-generation Panamanian coffee family whose history in Boquete spans more than a century. It began in 1918, when Robert Louis Lamastus founded Elida Estate on the slopes of Volcán Barú; Amado Boutet established the family's roots in Boquete in 1925, and in 2014 Luito Lamastus planted a new generation of Gesha. Today the family farms five estates (Elida, El Burro, Luito Gesha, Cliff Gesha, and Trompo Gesha) across four microclimates in the Boquete highlands, at up to 2,200 masl.
Roughly half of Elida Estate lies within Volcán Barú National Park, and the estate runs from about 1,670 to 2,200 masl, among the highest elevations at which coffee is cultivated in Panama. At the highest sections, night temperatures can fall below 10°C, slowing cherry maturation and extending the period between flowering and harvest, which gives the fruit more time to develop sugars and aromatic compounds.
In 2026 Elida Gesha Washed Torre placed 1st in the Gesha Washed category at Best of Panama, and Elida Gesha Natural Vuelta placed 3rd in Gesha Natural. Coffee Review awarded an Elida Gesha 98 points, and the family's September 2026 First Light private auction reached US$591,007 across 26 lots.
THE PROCESS
Fully ripe cherries are dried whole in the open highland air, so the seeds mature slowly within their fruit. During the extended drying, sugars and aromatic compounds develop, building sweetness, texture, and depth while preserving the Gesha's floral character. At Torre's 1,835 masl, deep volcanic soils, cool temperatures, and the persistent bajareque mist create ideal conditions for slow, even drying.
The slow, open-air drying of whole cherries is the defining step. It builds the silky structure and vibrant fruit character.
THE CUP
Rich and silky, with vibrant fruit character and the clarity and elegance of the Torre terroir.
