INTRO While this year's Ethiopian selections generally leaned toward Guji, this washed Masincho from Sidama consistently stood out in every round of blind cupping — a genuinely eye-opening lot. The floral aroma is light and airy, delicate yet lingering, with a pronounced citrus character reminiscent of jasmine or lemon blossom. In the cup: white flowers, citrus, jasmine green tea, and apricot-peach.
THE PRODUCER Masincho is named after a large tree growing at the centre of the Yaye washing station, chosen by Testi to symbolise the deep roots and strong foundation of Yaye. When compared side by side with other coffees from the same station, Masincho has consistently impressed in every cupping session.
THE PROCESS This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying — allowing 74158's naturally floral, citrus-forward character to come through with clarity, building the white flower and jasmine green tea notes that define this cup.
THE CUP Vibrant and expressive — a fruit profile evoking both fresh fruit and fruit candy sweetness, with lively, well-structured acidity throughout. The freshness of newly harvested green tea carries into a long, elegant finish.
