INTRO From Café Granja La Esperanza's Las Margaritas farm in Caicedonia, Valle del Cauca — a brilliantly balanced Gesha that reflects the estate's dedicated craftsmanship and nutrient-rich volcanic soil. Bright kumquat and orange citrus lead, layered with jasmine florality throughout. In the cup: kumquat, orange, and jasmine.
THE PRODUCER Café Granja La Esperanza began in 1945 with Potosí farm in Valle del Cauca, originally focused on Yellow Bourbon, Red Bourbon, and Caturra. Guided by a sustainable development orientation and a willingness to innovate, the operation has since expanded into organic specialty coffee across successive farms, including Las Margaritas and La Esperanza — each continuing the same commitment to quality that defined the original estate.
THE PROCESS This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying — allowing Gesha's naturally bright, floral character to come through with clarity, building the citrus-forward, jasmine-laced profile that defines this cup.
THE CUP Hot, it opens with lemon, jasmine, and apricot. As it warms, kumquat, clementine, and orange take over. Cooling further, elder flower, orange, and black tea emerge, finishing with notes of kumquat, Earl Grey, and jasmine. The acidity is crisp and bright, like kumquat; the sweetness elegant, like white peach; and the mouthfeel delicate, reminiscent of Earl Grey tea.
