THE PRODUCER

El Renacer sits at 2,100 MASL in Peru — a growing environment where cool temperatures, volcanic soils, and slow cherry development create the conditions for exceptional aromatic concentration and refined sweetness. SL9 — known locally as "Inca Gesha" — has become one of the most captivating discoveries in Peruvian specialty coffee. Genetic testing has found it closely resembles SL09, a rare cultivar belonging to the Ethiopian Legacy group, originally identified through single-tree selections made by the Scott Agricultural Laboratories in the 1930s. At 2,100 MASL in Peru's Andean highlands, its aromatic intensity and exceptional cup clarity find their fullest expression — and Javier Salas's El Renacer is a compelling demonstration of exactly that.

THE PROCESS

The Washed process involves:
