MEET TAGEL ALEMAYEHU

This is September’s first time working with coffee from Tagel Alemayehu — and it’s a remarkable introduction. Grown in the Guji region and processed at the Hambella Washing Station, this washed Ethiopian Landrace delivers the kind of clarity and character that defines the best of the region.

In the cup, it’s juicy, floral, and bright. September tastes white peach, tangerine, and lemon-lime acidity, layered with soft black tea florals and a sparkling clean finish. A lifted, lively profile with elegance throughout.

This lot is a collection of cherries grown by approximately 130 smallholders across Guji. After careful handpicking, the cherries are sorted by flotation at Hambella to remove defects, then fermented in mucilage for 36–48 hours. Following a full wash, the coffee is dried on raised beds for 9–11 days.

An excellent expression of place - vibrant, structured, and full of light.

Flavour Notes: White Peach, Lemon-Lime, Floral

What is the roast recency?

September doesn't generally advertise a roast preference to Filter or Espresso, however, this is an exception and this particular bag is best enjoyed as espresso!

We recommend brewing with beans that are at least two weeks off roast. All beans are roasted to peak flavour at around 8-12 weeks. We have the option to either purchase standard beans (at least 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks off roast), or rested beans (at least 7 weeks off roast, no longer than 12). For peak flavour, if you are looking to use immediately, we recommend purchasing the rested beans. If you are adding to your rotation of beans, we recommend purchasing the standard and allowing the beans to naturally rest and mature whilst you rotate through other beans.
