INTRO
A classic expression of Kenyan coffee at its finest — the Muthuaini Washing Station operates in one of Kenya's most distinctive agricultural settings, a highland zone where coffee and tea grow side by side. Grown on rich red volcanic soils, this lot delivers a juicy, rich mouthfeel with bright, fruity flavours and a winey acidity that's unmistakably Kenyan. In the cup: stewed red fruits and bright berries.

THE PRODUCER
Muthuaini Washing Station is part of the Mutheka Coffee Farmers Society, consisting of more than 500 active farming members in Nyeri County, growing SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian in red volcanic soils at 1,700 meters. In a region where tea competes for growers' attention and resources, the coffee's continued quality here is both deliberate and hard-won — the cool, stable climate slows cherry development and builds the dense, mineral-rich seeds that define the best of Nyeri. This collaboration, now in its third year, centres on consistency and farmer engagement, reinforcing the value of precision — from thoughtful fertilisation to soil health — with disciplined programmes that translate directly into the clarity and brightness Muthuaini's lots are known for.

THE PROCESS
This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying — allowing the domestic varietal mix's naturally juicy, winey character to come through, built on Nyeri's cool, stable highland climate and disciplined post-harvest handling.

THE CUP
Juicy and rich — stewed red fruit sweetness runs throughout, with bright berries and a winey acidity that's unmistakably Kenyan.
