INTRO
Mullugeta Muntasha's journey from truck driver to esteemed coffee producer reflects his passion and dedication. Raised in Bursa, a region where coffee was once unknown, he returned to his roots in 2021 to establish Dawencho, a drying station that soon earned accolades in the Cup of Excellence. Strawberry and honeysuckle lead, with pink lemonade brightness and a peach finish. In the cup: strawberry, honeysuckle, pink lemonade, and peach.

THE PRODUCER
Raised in Bursa village, where coffee cultivation was once unheard of, Mullugeta carved his path in the neighbouring Arsi region as a truck driver, transporting coffee cherries to washing stations. Over time he evolved from transporter to key collector, supplying coffee to central markets and honing his expertise along the way. As climate shifts and agricultural support reshaped Bursa, coffee was introduced to the region, creating new opportunities for local farmers. In 2021, Mullugeta returned to his roots, establishing Dawencho — quickly winning 2nd place in the Cup of Excellence for the Dawencho farmer group and 6th place under his own name. By 2022, four of the top 10 Cup of Excellence winners were from his lots, including the top-ranking coffee from Legesse Botola, his brother-in-law, who processed his award-winning coffee at Mullugeta's washing station.

THE PROCESS
This lot is a Natural, dried on raised beds — cherries dry whole, allowing the fruit to impart its character directly into the bean over an extended drying period with high airflow.

The raised-bed drying is the defining step — it's what preserves the clean strawberry and honeysuckle sweetness that define this cup, with pink lemonade and peach rounding out the profile.

THE CUP
Sweet and vibrant — strawberry leads, with honeysuckle florality and a pink lemonade brightness throughout, finishing on a peach note. A reflection of Mullugeta's hard work elevating coffee production in his home region.
