INTRO
From El Laurel Estate in Danlí, a farm with a remarkable record for Parainema. Wampee, plum, and raspberry fruit lead, with a brown sugar sweetness and an oolong tea finish. In the cup: wampee, plum, raspberry, brown sugar, and oolong tea.

THE PRODUCER
El Laurel Estate started on a half-hectare plot inherited by Oscar from his father. Oscar later bought more land to expand the farm, and with his wife's support worked hard to build it up. His sons have since grown up, joined the business, and helped steadily increase output. The farm plants dense leafy vegetation as natural barriers against soil erosion and heavy wet-season rainfall, following professional advice from IHCAFE technicians on scientific cultivation practices.

The estate entered the Honduras Cup of Excellence in 2017 and won the championship with 91.81 points, with its lots auctioned at $124.50 and $122.90 per pound that same year. It placed 2nd in the 2023 Best Parainema Contest and 8th again in 2025.

Parainema is a variety suited to mid-altitude planting, resistant to coffee leaf rust and certain nematodes. It's a mutant of Sarchimor, with relatively large plants that commonly deliver prominent sweetness.

THE PROCESS
This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying. It lets Parainema's natural sweetness come through with clarity, building the wampee and plum character that defines this cup.
