Intro:

Flowerchild is excited to present El Paraiso Caturra, a bright and juicy Colombian filter coffee from one of Huila’s standout producers. This washed Caturra is both vibrant and satisfying, offering a big‑bodied cup with lively acidity, layered sweetness, and fruit‑forward complexity — perfect for lovers of expressive, nuanced filter brews.

The Producer:

Ernedis Rodriguez manages El Paraiso — a family‑run coffee farm in Gigante, Huila. Ernedis has built his operation with a focus on quality and innovation, overseeing improvements in infrastructure, wet‑mill technology, and sustainable practices that enhance consistency and cup potential. While he once worked alongside his team in the field, Ernedis now directs operations to ensure each microlot realizes its fullest flavour expression.

The Process:

This lot is crafted through a carefully managed washed process. Only the ripest cherries are selected and floated upon arrival at the mill, before being depulped. A dry fermentation period of about 84 hours allows flavours to develop, after which the coffee is washed and then laid to dry in a greenhouse for 18–25 days, depending on weather. This extended drying enhances sweetness and helps build clarity and depth in the cup.

The Cup:

In the cup, El Paraiso Caturra is juicy, well‑balanced, and richly flavoured. Bright kumquat 🍊 acidity dances with ripe berry 🍒 sweetness, while subtle sugar cane 🌾 undertones add smooth, natural sweetness. There’s also a hint of yellow cherry and juicy mandarine character that gives this coffee great breadth and playful energy — making it both inviting and memorable.

Overall:

Flowerchild’s El Paraiso Caturra is a delightful showcase of what thoughtful processing and excellent terroir can achieve. With its juicy fruit character, balanced acidity, and satisfying sweetness, it’s a compelling filter coffee that highlights both the vibrancy of Huila and the skill of its producer. Whether you’re starting your day or savouring a slow brew, this coffee delivers complexity and joy in every cup.

What is the roast recency?

We recommend brewing with beans that are at least two weeks off roast. All beans are roasted to peak flavour at around 6-12 weeks. We have the option to either purchase standard beans (at least 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks off roast), or rested beans (at least 7 weeks off roast, no longer than 12 - should we have any left in stock!). For peak flavour, if you are looking to use immediately, we recommend purchasing the rested beans. If you are adding to your rotation of beans, we recommend purchasing the standard and allowing the beans to naturally rest and mature whilst you rotate through other beans.
