About the Coffee

Naturally processed but with a profile reminiscent of a washed coffee, Carmen Estate Gesha Natural delights with intensely floral and citrusy notes, complemented by a delicate vegetal background. Its silky, slightly buttery texture and medium acidity lift the cup, highlighting a floral, fruity, blackberry-like character from hot to cold. The aromatic layers are crystal clear, direct, and expressive, resulting in a remarkably structured, elegant, and aromatic cup.

Founded by Efrain and Carmen Franceschi in the lush highlands of Paso Ancho, Carmen Estate has long been a benchmark for quality and craftsmanship. Blessed with rich volcanic soils, a unique microclimate, and the flow of the Chiriquí Viejo River, the farm produces coffees of exceptional elegance and depth. For nearly two decades, Carmen Estate has been a fixture at the Best of Panama, earning top honors in Gesha Washed, Gesha Natural, and Varietals. Now under the Dashang Group and represented by Jean Paul Langenstein, the estate continues to honor the Franceschi family’s legacy—a blend of heritage, precision, and love for the land evident in every cup.

In the Cup

This natural Gesha is the epitome of Carmen Estate’s style—elegant, structured, and intensely aromatic.

The cup opens with a vibrant bouquet of floral and citrus notes, led by bright blossoms and hints of lemon, before unfolding into juicy blackberry and subtle fruity layers. A silky, buttery texture and medium acidity add balance and lift, bringing both depth and finesse.

Delicately layered and expressive, the finish is long, refined, and luminous—a true expression of Panamanian Gesha!

We recommend brewing with beans that are at least two weeks off roast. All beans are roasted to peak flavour at around 8-12 weeks. We have the option to either purchase standard beans (at least 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks off roast), or rested beans (at least 7 weeks off roast, no longer than 12). For peak flavour, if you are looking to use immediately, we recommend purchasing the rested beans. If you are adding to your rotation of beans, we recommend purchasing the standard and allowing the beans to naturally rest and mature whilst you rotate through other beans.
