THE PRODUCER
Arley Vargas is a second-generation coffee producer who works alongside his father Alexander on their shared 18-hectare farm in Huila at 1,800 MASL. Finca La Piragua is operated entirely under regenerative farming practices — including the active reforestation of previously deforested parts of the farm, reflecting a commitment to the long-term health of the land as much as the quality of the coffee it produces. The farm's debut on Mirra Coffee's menu is a stunning introduction to what Arley and Alexander are building together.
Geisha, first identified in the 1930s in the forests of Gori Gesha in Ethiopia, first attracted global attention in 2005 when the Peterson family at Hacienda La Esmeralda in Boquete, Panama entered a lot into the Best of Panama competition and won — launching a variety that has since become the most lauded in commercial cultivation. In Huila's cool, high-altitude microclimate at 1,800 MASL, its hallmark perfumed florality and delicate complexity find ideal conditions to express themselves with full precision and elegance.
