The Naughty Dog is excited to present Valentine’s Ethiopia Blend, a special edition “blend for lovers” that celebrates Ethiopian coffee culture and expressive flavour complexity. Crafted as a limited‑edition release, this lot combines the clarity of washed coffees with the intensity of anaerobic‑influenced naturals — resulting in a cup that’s both joyful and romantic, perfect for shared moments or thoughtful solo sips.

The Producer:

This blend is rooted in Ethiopia’s storied coffee tradition, built from carefully sourced microlots. The foundation comes from washed lots with elegant purity and floral notes, complemented by anaerobically processed naturals known for their layered fruitiness and complexity. By harmonising these distinct processing approaches, The Naughty Dog realises a profile that’s bright, playful, and rich in character.

The Process:

Valentine’s Ethiopia Blend marries two processing worlds: the precision and clarity of washed coffees with the dynamic fruit intensity that comes from anaerobic influences in naturals. Carefully fermented, dried, and roasted as an omni roast, this coffee delivers balance and dimension whether pulled as filter (V60, Chemex, AeroPress) or espresso, adapting beautifully to each method.

The Cup:

This blend opens with bright citrus energy — think bergamot 🍋 — that gives an immediate lift and lively acidity. Mid‑palate sweetness presents like a raspberry lollipop 🍭, bringing a nostalgic and playful fruit character. What is the roast recency?

We recommend brewing with beans that are at least two weeks off roast. All beans are roasted to peak flavour at around 6-12 weeks. We have the option to either purchase standard beans (at least 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks off roast), or rested beans (at least 7 weeks off roast, no longer than 12 - should we have any left in stock!). For peak flavour, if you are looking to use immediately, we recommend purchasing the rested beans. If you are adding to your rotation of beans, we recommend purchasing the standard and allowing the beans to naturally rest and mature whilst you rotate through other beans.
