INTRO
Alo Coffee was founded by Tamiru Tadesse, a former university lecturer and electrical engineer, with a vision to showcase Bensa's exceptional coffee quality. In 2021, Alo gained international recognition by winning the Ethiopia Cup of Excellence with a coffee from its hometown village. Delicate white florals meet vibrant orange and muscat grape notes, with the lingering sweetness of longan. In the cup: white flowers, orange, muscat grape, and longan.

THE PRODUCER
Alo is renowned for its meticulous processing standards and commitment to local smallholder farmers, known especially for its signature Zero Fermentation Washed approach — focused on preserving the coffee's natural character through precise processing and slow, controlled drying, resulting in remarkable clarity, cleanliness, and complexity in the cup.

THE PROCESS
Only fully ripe cherries were carefully selected and depulped immediately after harvest. The parchment coffee was thoroughly washed without any fermentation, highlighting a clean, transparent flavour profile and a rich, rounded mouthfeel. The coffee then dried slowly under shade on raised African beds for 8-12 days, allowing even, controlled moisture reduction.

Skipping fermentation entirely is the defining step — it's what produces the remarkable clarity behind this cup's white floral, orange, and muscat grape character, letting the variety's natural sweetness come through unobscured.
