DETAILS

  • Producer: Neighbouring farmers delivering cherry to Ako-Sonicho Station
  • Region: Ako, Sidama, Ethiopia
  • Varietal: 74158 & 74112 (JARC Selected Varietals)
  • Process: Natural
  • Altitude: 2,300 masl

INTRO The cleanest of three coffees sourced from importer And Specialty Coffee — produced with cherry purchased from surrounding farmers at 2,300 masl in Ako, Sidama. A beautifully floral cup, full of orange blossom with bright tropicality underneath and a sweet apricot preserves note running throughout. In the cup: orange blossom, apricot preserves, and mango.

THE PRODUCER This lot is produced with cherry purchased from neighbouring farmers delivering to the Ako-Sonicho station in Sidama, at 2,300 masl. Cherry is composed of the JARC-selected varietals 74158 and 74112, processed traditionally with careful hand sorting before drying.

THE PROCESS This lot is a Natural — cherries are hand-sorted, then dried whole on raised beds for 25–30 days.

The high 2,300 masl altitude combined with careful hand sorting is the defining factor here — it's what produces such an unusually clean natural, with orange blossom, jasmine, and bergamot florality layered over bright tropical fruit and apricot preserves sweetness.

THE CUP Beautifully floral and clean — orange blossom, jasmine, and bergamot lead, with bright tropicality underneath and a sweet apricot preserves note running throughout, along with a mango-like depth.

About this variety

Several varieties make up this lot. That can create a layered cup, but their individual flavours cannot be separated honestly after the coffee is combined.

Why this one is different
  • Ethiopia
  • Sidama
  • 2300 masl
  • Natural

These varieties were grown or combined in Ethiopia. The producer’s lot details and tasting notes are the best guide to how they work together.

Natural processing often brings a rounder, fruit-led expression, which can make the same variety feel quite different from a washed lot.

A little background

The varieties are shown exactly as supplied for this coffee. We do not invent one combined genetic or flavour profile for the group.
