THE PRODUCER Chelbesa is a prominent washing station in the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia's Gedeo Zone, known for producing high-quality coffees with vibrant floral and citrus notes. The station excels in both washed and natural processing, delivering complex, elegant flavours highly prized in the specialty coffee world.
Heirloom refers to a diverse group of ancient coffee varieties native to Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee — genetically diverse, often grown in wild or semi-wild conditions, contributing to their complex, unique flavour profiles. Heirloom coffees are prized for their rich history, diversity, and the distinctive, nuanced flavours they bring to the cup.
THE PROCESS This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying — allowing the Heirloom variety's naturally bright, floral character to come through with clarity, building the yellow fruit and white floral notes that define this cup.
THE CUP Bright and elegant — yellow fruit sweetness meets crisp white floral aromatics, delivering the vibrant, complex character Chelbesa is known for, even more pronounced than in previous years.
