INTRO Prolog's first year working with Emerson Felipe Narváez at El Turpial — the third release following Sudan Rume and Laurina. This lot is an Ethiopian Landrace, rarely grown in Colombia, carefully adapted to the farm's high-altitude conditions and microclimate. Citrus and stone fruit lead, with an Earl Grey tea structure carrying through the finish. In the cup: citrus, stone fruit, and Earl Grey tea.

THE PRODUCER Emerson Felipe Narváez is a Q Grader and highly driven producer who experiments with rare varieties and advanced processing techniques at El Turpial, in Cumbitara, Nariño. The extreme altitude — reaching up to 2,780 masl — encourages slow cherry maturation, contributing to a complex and expressive cup, and has allowed this uncommon Ethiopian Landrace variety to adapt well to conditions far from its native origin.

THE PROCESS This coffee is washed with an extended fermentation: 48 hours in whole cherry, followed by 32 hours in mucilage, before washing and drying on raised beds.

The extended, two-stage fermentation — 48 hours whole-cherry, then 32 hours in mucilage — is the defining step. Combined with the extreme altitude's slow ripening, it's what builds the pronounced complexity and clarity behind the citrus, stone fruit, and Earl Grey tea character that define this cup.

THE CUP Complex and clear — citrus brightness up front, stone fruit sweetness through the middle, and an Earl Grey tea structure on the finish. A rare varietal expression shaped by extended fermentation and extreme-altitude terroir.
