Andres Torre Ore grows coffee at Finca Muruhuay in a growing environment that is genuinely unlike most of Peru's established specialty regions — the transition zone where Andean altitude gives way to the Amazonian lowlands, creating a microclimate of unusual warmth, humidity, and biodiversity. Through thoughtful farm management and years of accumulated experience, Andres has developed the knowledge and craft to produce coffees that showcase the unique character of this remarkable and underrepresented growing area.
Caturra, a natural Bourbon mutation first identified in Brazil, and Bourbon, one of the oldest and most historically significant Arabica varieties in the world, have been grown in Peru's highland regions for decades. THE PROCESS
The Washed process at Finca Muruhuay involves:
