DETAILS

  • Producer: Hachi Panama
  • Region: Panama
  • Varietal: Gesha
  • Process: Washed
  • Release: Exotic, #04

INTRO Another standout from Hachi Panama — "Kitsune" (きつね, fox), an exotic-tier Gesha built on clean, aromatic brightness. Lemongrass and chamomile lead, with a soft yellow plum sweetness underneath. In the cup: lemongrass, chamomile, and yellow plum.

THE PRODUCER Hachi Panama has built a reputation as one of the country's most sought-after Gesha producers, known for meticulous, small-batch processing that consistently draws attention from top roasters and collectors worldwide. This washed lot reflects the same exacting standards behind their more experimental natural releases, channelled instead into clarity and precision.

THE PROCESS This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying — allowing Gesha's naturally aromatic, delicate character to come through with clarity, building the lemongrass, chamomile, and yellow plum notes that define this cup.

THE CUP Clean and aromatic — lemongrass and chamomile up front, with a soft yellow plum sweetness on the finish. A precise, exotic-tier expression of Hachi's Gesha work.

Coffee Variety

About this variety

Coffees reported as Gesha or Geisha are often prized for a delicate, tea-like cup with lifted floral aromas and bright fruit. Jasmine, bergamot and peach are common reference points, but each lot can express them differently.

Why this one is different
  • Panama
  • Washed

Panamanian Geisha, especially well-traced T2722 grown at high altitude, is the classic reference for a very delicate, jasmine-led and peach-like cup.

Washed processing can make acidity and variety character easier to read, although fermentation and drying choices still matter.

Why the Gesha / Geisha name matters

Gesha and Geisha are interchangeable spellings, not proof of different varieties. The best-documented Panamanian Geisha descends from Ethiopian material recorded as T2722, while other coffees carrying either spelling may not be genetically identical.

Classification Reported Gesha / Geisha

Technical lineage The reported name alone does not establish one genetic lineage. Confirmed Panamanian T2722 traces to Ethiopian landrace material.

Variety is a guide, not a flavour guarantee. Lot notes are more specific.
