  • Varietal: Geisha

INTRO From Jaime and Juan Pablo's El Escarabajo processing station in Tolima — a Hybrid Washed Geisha showcasing the delicate side of this celebrated farm. White floral aromatics lead, with bergamot and apricot sweetness layered underneath a white tea-like structure. In the cup: white floral, bergamot, apricot, and white tea.

THE PRODUCER El Escarabajo Farm is a specialty coffee processing station in Tolima, Colombia, founded by Jaime and Juan Pablo, drawing on decades of coffee industry experience to showcase the classic flavour profiles typical of Tolima's terroir. Nestled in the Andes Mountains, the farm benefits from volcanic soil and diverse microclimates that build remarkable flavour complexity. Jaime oversees the full supply chain — farm management, processing, and quality control — while Juan Pablo leads operations and trade development, connecting local producers with the global specialty market.

THE PROCESS This lot uses a Hybrid Washed process — combining elements of both washed and natural methods to build layered complexity while preserving Geisha's naturally delicate, floral character.

The hybrid approach is the defining detail here — it's what allows the bergamot and apricot sweetness to develop alongside the variety's classic white floral and tea-like clarity.

THE CUP Delicate and layered — white floral aromatics up front, bergamot brightness and apricot sweetness through the middle, and a white tea structure on the finish. A refined showcase of El Escarabajo's Geisha work.

Typical influence Washed coffees are often described as clean and bright, with clear flavours, lively acidity and a crisp finish.

About this variety

Coffees reported as Gesha or Geisha are often prized for a delicate, tea-like cup with lifted floral aromas and bright fruit. Jasmine, bergamot and peach are common reference points, but each lot can express them differently.

Why this one is different
  • Colombia
  • Tolima
  • 1600-1800 masl
  • Washed

This is a Colombian expression, so it should not be expected to match a Panamanian Geisha exactly. The farm, growing conditions and lot notes matter more than the spelling.

Washed processing can make acidity and variety character easier to read, although fermentation and drying choices still matter.

Why the Gesha / Geisha name matters

Gesha and Geisha are interchangeable spellings, not proof of different varieties. The best-documented Panamanian Geisha and a Colombian research sample have matched T2722, but country and spelling do not prove that every farm planting is identical.

Classification Reported Gesha / Geisha

Technical lineage The reported name alone does not establish one genetic lineage. Confirmed Panamanian T2722 traces to Ethiopian landrace material.

Variety is a guide, not a flavour guarantee. Lot notes are more specific.
