INTRO
A classic Brazilian Mundo Novo from Gabriel Barreto — very sweet, with great complexity and texture. Balanced, with high aromatics and layered fruit character alongside a chocolate-like sweetness. This is by far the best lot from Gabriel yet, and a genuinely fine expression of Brazilian coffee. In the cup: chocolate, fruit layers, and high aromatics.
THE PRODUCER
Together with his family, Gabriel Barreto operates Casa Almeida Barreto in Albertina, Minas Gerais — a relationship that's continued since 2021 and remains one of the closest working partnerships in the lineup. This marks the third and, for now, final year working with Mundo Novo from the Araucária farm — Gabriel is replanting this traditional variety in a more suitable plot, with even higher quality expected as growing conditions improve.
THE PROCESS
This lot is a Natural — cherries are dried whole, allowing the fruit to impart its character directly into the bean. This approach is what builds the layered fruit character and chocolate-like sweetness that define this cup, with clarity carrying through despite the process's typical intensity.
THE CUP
Sweet and complex — balanced, with high aromatics and layered fruit character throughout, finishing on a chocolate-like sweetness. Expressive and delicate, with excellent clarity for a natural process.
