INTRO

The next release of a Natural Ethiopian for this year is Mango Tango. Produced by Danche Washing Station—one of our favourite washing stations this year for producing expressive, fruity and clean coffees.

THE PRODUCER

This washing station is located in Chelbesa, Gedeo. The station buys cherries from around 400 farmers who grow coffee on around 1–2 hectares between 2000–2300 metres above sea level. This washing station is organic certified.

THE PROCESS

The Natural process at Danche involves:

  • 🍒 Cherry Selection — Ripe cherries collected from around 400 smallholder farmers

  • ☀️ Natural Drying — Whole cherries dried with fruit intact

  • ✅ Quality Sorting — Careful selection to preserve the expressive, clean character Danche is known for

This traditional natural process, combined with organic farming practices across small smallholder plots, creates the expressive, fruity and clean profile that has made Danche one of the standout washing stations this year.

THE CUP

Vibrant mango sweetness leads the cup, layered with strawberry candy and a bright mandarine finish. An expressive, fruity and clean coffee from one of this year's standout washing stations, grown organically across smallholder farms in Chelbesa, Gedeo.

About this variety

This is a mixed or locally selected coffee population rather than one precisely identified variety. Expect the lot’s tasting notes to be more useful than a single variety stereotype.

Why this one is different
  • Ethiopia
  • Chelbesa, Gedeo
  • 2000-2300 masl
  • Natural

In Ethiopia, local selection, replanting and farm history can shape a mixed population over many generations.

Natural processing often brings a rounder, fruit-led expression, which can make the same variety feel quite different from a washed lot.

A little background

Several plant types may be growing and harvested together, often reflecting a farm or region’s planting history.

Classification Mixed population

Technical lineage The individual plants are not fully separated or identified, so a single genetic lineage would be misleading.

Variety is a guide, not a flavour guarantee. Lot notes are more specific.
