INTRO

From Yeisson Fabian Calderon Perdomo at Finca El Vergel — a delicate, bright, and sparkling washed Geisha facilitated by the Sudus Coffee Project, a Colombian initiative dedicated to enriching the biological diversity of coffee-growing farms while improving quality and producer livelihoods simultaneously. In the cup: wild flowers, mint, and citrus — clean, vibrant, and entirely expressive.

THE PRODUCER

The Sudus Coffee Project operates in the coffee-growing regions of Colombia with a singular focus: rebuilding and enriching the biological diversity of partner farms through long-term trust-building, environmental redesign, and quality improvement. Finca El Vergel, operated by Yeisson Fabian in the La Primavera area of Acevedo in Huila, is one of the farms that has embraced the project's philosophy — participating in environmental improvements including the establishment of flower corridors to support pollination and ecosystem health alongside the Geisha cultivation. The result is a farm where quality and environmental stewardship are treated as inseparable pursuits.

Geisha, first collected from the coffee forests of Ethiopia in the 1930s and brought to global prominence at the 2005 Best of Panama competition, finds compelling conditions in Acevedo, Huila at 1,600 MASL — where the cool mountain microclimate and careful washed processing allow the variety's hallmark florality and delicate citrus brightness to express themselves with full clarity.

THE PROCESS

The Washed process at Finca El Vergel involves:

🍒 Hand-picking — Geisha cherries selectively harvested at peak ripeness 💧 Flotation — Floated to separate by density and remove defects 🔍 Strict hand-selection — Carefully sorted to remove any remaining underripe cherries 🔧 Depulping — Outer skin removed before fermentation 🧪 Fermentation — Beans fermented to break down remaining mucilage 💧 Washing — Thoroughly washed after fermentation ☀️ Raised-bed drying — Dried on African raised beds to optimal moisture content

The strict hand-selection and meticulous washed processing are the defining steps — by removing all underripe cherries and all fruit influence through thorough washing, Yeisson reveals the Geisha's intrinsic wild flower florality, fresh mint herbality, and bright citrus character with exceptional transparency and clarity.

THE CUP

A delicate, bright, and sparkling washed Geisha from one of Acevedo's most biodiversity-committed farms — wild flower florality, a distinctive fresh mint character, and a bright citrus finish in a clean, vibrant cup that carries the spirit of the Sudus Coffee Project in every sip.
