INTRO
Established in 1997, the Rungeto Cooperative operates three washed coffee processing stations — Kii, Karimikui, and Kiangoio — on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya. Classic raspberry and cherry flavours lead, with a lingering aftertaste reminiscent of hard candy fruit. In the cup: raspberry, cherry, and fruit candy.

THE PRODUCER
Rungeto Cooperative employs over 7,800 smallholders cultivating fertile loam soil at 1,600-1,800 meters, with meltwater from Mount Kenya's snow-capped peaks providing a pristine water source for washing. Members can access pre-financing for tuition, agricultural inputs, and emergency funds from the previous year's harvest, alongside input credits and cash advances as incentives. The cooperative has also invested in sustainability — installing easy-to-clean tiles in cleaning channels and fermentation tanks, training farmers on disease prevention, and ensuring processing water is reused elsewhere on the farm.

THE PROCESS
Ripe cherries are sorted before pulping, then fermented overnight on parchment paper. The coffee is washed and graded into P1, P2, P3, and floating beans, with the parchment-paper beans dried on drying racks for 8 to 14 days.

The double-wash and careful density grading are the defining step — it's what builds the classic raspberry and cherry clarity behind this cup, finishing on a distinctive fruit candy sweetness.

THE CUP
Classic and clean — raspberry and cherry flavours lead, with a lingering fruit candy aftertaste.
