Intro:
Swerl is excited to present Las Marías Double Washed Gesha, a limited‑edition release Colombian Gesha that celebrates extraordinary clarity and refined expression through a meticulous double‑washed process. This lot showcases the elegant floral and citrus interplay that Geisha is cherished for, with sparkling complexity and subtle wine‑like depth perfect for thoughtful filter brewing.
The Producer:
This coffee is from Las Marías Estate in Huila, grown and nurtured by José Giraldo and his team. Over years of focused varietal research and selective cultivation, Las Marías has become known for offering high‑quality Geisha lots that balance terroir, varietal purity, and precision processing. Set in high‑altitude terrain with rich soil and ideal microclimates, the farm enables slow cherry maturation that enhances sweetness and aromatic density.
The Process:
Las Marías Double Washed Geisha is prepared through a multi‑step fermentation and wash regime, starting with whole‑cherry fermentation in a closed environment to build initial complexity. After pulping, the beans enter an open fermentation before a first wash, followed by another 24‑hour post‑wash fermentation. After a final wash, the beans are dried slowly on raised beds for ~25 days under controlled temperatures, preserving clarity, balance, and delicate aromatics.
The Cup:
In the cup, this coffee is vibrant and refined. Jasmine 🌼 and lemongrass 🍃 aromatics open the profile with bright perfume, while sweet citrus 🍋 enliven the palate with a fresh, clean acidity. A rosé wine nuance 🍷 weaves through the finish, adding subtle fruit complexity and elegance that lingers beautifully.
Overall:
This Limited Edition Swerl is a standout Colombian Gesha — rare, expressive, and meticulously crafted. With its floral lift, citrus brightness, and delicate wine‑like nuances, this lot exemplifies what careful processing and top‑tier genetics can achieve in the cup. It’s a refined filter coffee for those who love expressive, nuanced, and beautifully balanced specialty lots.
