Roaster notes

Availability is unclear: the 100g variant is marked "sold out or unavailable," but the page also says "Hurry, only 18 items left in stock!" I'd confirm before listing. Also, the earlier Klover "Afterglow (Classic Natural)" lot credited Finca Deborah at 1,950 masl, whereas this one is Morgan Estate at about 1,850–1,900 masl, so the "Afterglow" name appears to be a Savage Coffees label used across farms or releases, not one lot. Morgan Estate is new to the write-ups.

INTRO
White florals, ripe strawberry, and peach: a generous natural Gesha with the elegance to match. It combines expressive fruit with a clear floral character, with the natural process adding sweetness and depth while the variety's elegance stays at the centre. In the cup: white florals, ripe strawberry, peach, red grape, and champagne.

THE PRODUCER
Morgan Estate holds a special place in Jamison Savage's story: it's where he conducted some of his earliest experiments with carbonic maceration, an approach later closely associated with Savage Coffees. Afterglow explores a different expression of the same attention to detail, putting the emphasis on exceptional cherries and carefully managed drying. The estate sits in a secluded valley outside Volcán at roughly 1,850–1,900 masl, with a river running through the property and mature native trees forming a dense canopy over the Green Tip Gesha, in rich volcanic soils surrounded by rainforest.

THE PROCESS
Only ripe Gesha cherries are selected and placed intact on raised drying beds. Jamison's naturals dry slowly through a multi-level raised-bed system, moving through progressively cooler drying stages, with careful turning and monitoring throughout.

The slow whole-cherry drying through progressively cooler stages is the defining step. It builds the ripe fruit character, rounded sweetness, and generous texture while preserving the Gesha florals.

THE CUP
Opens with lifted white florals, followed by ripe strawberry, peach, and red grape. As the cup cools, the fruit becomes deeper and sweeter, with a soft, champagne-like lift and creamy sweetness underneath. Rich, gracefully structured, with a lingering fruit finish.

Typical influence Natural coffees are often described as sweet and full-bodied, with ripe berry or tropical-fruit flavours and sometimes a gentle wine-like note.

About this variety

Coffees reported as Gesha or Geisha are often prized for a delicate, tea-like cup with lifted floral aromas and bright fruit. Jasmine, bergamot and peach are common reference points, but each lot can express them differently.

Why this one is different
  • Panama
  • Chiriquí
  • Natural

Panamanian Geisha, especially well-traced T2722 grown at high altitude, is the classic reference for a very delicate, jasmine-led and peach-like cup.

Natural processing often brings a rounder, fruit-led expression, which can make the same variety feel quite different from a washed lot.

Why the Gesha / Geisha name matters

Gesha and Geisha are interchangeable spellings, not proof of different varieties. The best-documented Panamanian Geisha descends from Ethiopian material recorded as T2722, while other coffees carrying either spelling may not be genetically identical.

Classification Reported Gesha / Geisha

Technical lineage The reported name alone does not establish one genetic lineage. Confirmed Panamanian T2722 traces to Ethiopian landrace material.

Variety is a guide, not a flavour guarantee. Lot notes are more specific.
