Semi-Washed Gesha, Finca La Soledad
THE CUP
September's first time with Gelver’s coffee, and this Gesha earns its spot in the Shower series. Sweet, delicate, approachable. Lemon candy brightness, black tea florals, and stone fruit depth. Light body, juicy acidity, round sweet finish. A Gesha you could drink every day.
TASTING NOTES
Lemon candy · Orange · Floral
THE PRODUCER
Gelver Cuenca, 37, father of two. His farm, La Soledad, covers four hectares at 1850–1900 masl in Villa Colombia, La Plata (Huila). He cultivates Caturra, Colombia, Pink Bourbon, and Gesha.
THE PROCESS
Semi-washed. Ripe cherry hand-selected by Gelver, his family, and pickers. Cherries pulped and lightly rinsed to leave some mucilage intact. Dried on parabolic greenhouses (marquesinas) with moveable trays for precision.
What is the roast recency?
September doesn't generally advertise a roast preference to Filter or Espresso, however, this is an exception and this particular bag is best enjoyed as espresso!
We recommend brewing with beans that are at least two weeks off roast. All beans are roasted to peak flavour at around 8-12 weeks. We have the option to either purchase standard beans (at least 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks off roast), or rested beans (at least 7 weeks off roast, no longer than 12). For peak flavour, if you are looking to use immediately, we recommend purchasing the rested beans. If you are adding to your rotation of beans, we recommend purchasing the standard and allowing the beans to naturally rest and mature whilst you rotate through other beans.
