INTRO Gotiti is produced by 868 smallholder farmers in Ethiopia's Gedeb woreda, where coffee is grown beneath acacia and false banana trees in the cool, forested highlands of Yirgacheffe. Delivered by foot or mule to the local washing station, each lot is carefully separated, washed, fermented, and dried to preserve clarity and traceability. THE PRODUCER Gotiti is a small coffee-growing community within the Gedeb woreda of southern Ethiopia's renowned Yirgacheffe region, where 868 smallholder farmers cultivate coffee on plots often smaller than two hectares. Established in 2023, the Gotiti washing station carefully manages each stage of processing, from cherry reception and lot separation through pulping, fermentation, washing, and drying, with detailed records preserving traceability throughout. Farmers draw on generations of Gedeo agricultural knowledge, growing indigenous varieties beneath acacia and false banana trees in dense, high-elevation forests — shade systems that support soil health and create the cool, biodiverse environment behind the region's clarity, florality, and elegance.
