FincAmigos – Washed SL28

FincAmigos is Cafexport’s experimental farm—an agronomic lab where innovation meets sustainability. Here, exotic varieties such as Geisha, Tabi, Sudan Rume, Laurina, and SL28 are cultivated with precision and purpose. Designed to help reimagine the future of Colombian coffee, the farm also leads in environmental stewardship, conserving 4 hectares of forest and planting over 650 native species.

This lot of SL28, a variety originally from Kenya, reflects a careful balance of tradition, agronomic technique, and forward-thinking vision.

Processing Method

Cherries are selectively handpicked and pulped using a drum pulper, then fermented in water for 48 hours. After washing, the coffee is sun-dried on raised beds for 8 days, with regular turning to ensure uniformity. The result is a clean, expressive cup that showcases the vibrant character of SL28.

What is the roast recency?

We recommend brewing with beans that are at least two weeks off roast. All beans are roasted to peak flavour at around 6-10 weeks. We have the option to either purchase standard beans (at least 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks off roast), or rested beans (at least 7 weeks off roast, no longer than 10). For peak flavour, if you are looking to use immediately, we recommend purchasing the rested beans. If you are adding to your rotation of beans, we recommend purchasing the standard and allowing the beans to naturally rest and mature whilst you rotate through other beans.
