DETAILS

  • Producer: Hachi Panama
  • Region: Panama
  • Varietal: Gesha
  • Process: Natural
  • Release: Hyper Limited, #05

INTRO A hyper-limited release from Hachi Panama — "Aka" (赤, red), part of their acclaimed Gesha lineup. Vivid blueberry and lavender lead, with a bright lemon peel edge cutting through the sweetness. In the cup: blueberry, lavender, and lemon peel.

THE PRODUCER Hachi Panama has built a reputation as one of the country's most sought-after Gesha producers, known for meticulous, small-batch natural processing that consistently draws attention from top roasters and collectors worldwide. Releases like this one are produced in extremely limited quantities, reflecting the exacting standards behind each lot.

THE PROCESS This lot is a Natural — cherries are dried whole, allowing the fruit to impart its character directly into the bean as it dries. This approach builds the vivid blueberry and lavender depth that define this cup, while Gesha's natural brightness carries through as a clean lemon peel edge.

THE CUP Vivid and bold — blueberry sweetness up front, lavender florality through the middle, and a bright lemon peel finish. A hyper-limited expression of Hachi's exacting Gesha work.

About this variety

Coffees reported as Gesha or Geisha are often prized for a delicate, tea-like cup with lifted floral aromas and bright fruit. Jasmine, bergamot and peach are common reference points, but each lot can express them differently.

Why this one is different
  • Panama
  • Panama
  • Natural

Panamanian Geisha, especially well-traced T2722 grown at high altitude, is the classic reference for a very delicate, jasmine-led and peach-like cup.

Natural processing often brings a rounder, fruit-led expression, which can make the same variety feel quite different from a washed lot.

Why the Gesha / Geisha name matters

Gesha and Geisha are interchangeable spellings, not proof of different varieties. The best-documented Panamanian Geisha descends from Ethiopian material recorded as T2722, while other coffees carrying either spelling may not be genetically identical.

Classification Reported Gesha / Geisha

Technical lineage The reported name alone does not establish one genetic lineage. Confirmed Panamanian T2722 traces to Ethiopian landrace material.

Variety is a guide, not a flavour guarantee. Lot notes are more specific.
