Producer and place
Mery Garcito produces coffee in La Papaya's distinctive high-altitude microclimate in southern Ecuador. Careful cherry selection and washed processing preserve the variety's floral character and clear citrus structure.
Variety
Mejorada is a rare variety mainly grown in Ecuador and is also commonly called Mejorado or Typica Mejorado. Despite that name, genetic testing identifies it as a Bourbon variety crossed with an Ethiopian landrace rather than a Typica selection.
Process
Ripe cherries were hand-picked and floated to remove defects, then depulped on the day of harvest. The coffee was dry-fermented for 32 hours, washed and dried on raised beds.
In the cup
Expect bright Sumo mandarin acidity, soft vanilla-orchid florals and a sweet graham-cracker finish.
