Silent Springs is a farm in the rugged backcountry of Moorpark, California, where coffee is cultivated inside tunnel structures adapted from Ventura County's berry farming tradition. These protective canopies shield the trees from coastal winds and occasional frosts, creating a controlled microenvironment that allows for heightened quality and consistency. The Laurina variety grown here naturally contains around 50% less caffeine than standard Arabica — making it an ideal late-afternoon or after-dinner cup without sacrificing depth or character.


THE PRODUCER

FRINJ Coffee is a pioneering seed-to-cup company producing terroir-driven coffees from California. Founded in 2017 by Jay Ruskey, Andy Mullins, Juan Medrano, and Lindsey Mesta, FRINJ works with farms from San Luis Obispo to San Diego. Silent Springs represents one of FRINJ's most experimental plantings — the tunnel-growing technique, borrowed from the berry industry, is a genuine innovation in coffee cultivation. California farmers in the FRINJ network receive over half the sales value compared to just 2–5% globally. Laurina is a rare mutation of the Bourbon variety, first identified on Réunion Island and historically prized for its refined, low-caffeine character.
