INTRO From the Muntasha station in Arbegona, Sidama — home to Legesse Botasa's 2022 Cup of Excellence champion lot. A classic washed profile at its most refined: white floral aromatics, sweet orange and white peach sweetness, and a honeyed, black tea finish. In the cup: white floral, sweet orange, white peach, honey, and black tea.

THE PRODUCER The Muntasha station was founded by Mullugeta Muntasha, raised in Bursa Village, a settlement only recently turned to coffee cultivation. Mullugeta started his career as a coffee cherry picker in Arsi before returning home to build his own mill, Dawencho, in 2021 — the same year he placed 2nd at the Cup of Excellence with the Dawencho cooperative and 6th with his personal lot. In 2022, four of his lots reached the CoE Top 10, including the champion entry produced by his brother-in-law and long-term production partner, Legesse Botasa.

THE PROCESS This lot is Washed, a classic Ethiopian processing method built around careful de-pulping, fermentation, and washing before drying — an approach that lets 74158's naturally bright, floral, and tea-like character come through with clarity, rather than the heavier fruit intensity of a natural process.

THE CUP Clean and elegant — white floral lift up front, sweet orange and white peach sweetness through the middle, and a honeyed, black tea finish. A textbook example of why this station's lots keep landing at the top of Cup of Excellence.
