INTRO
From the Portón lot at Hacienda La Esmeralda's El Vélo farm, the estate that put Panamanian Gesha on the world map. Cantaloupe and orange sweetness lead, with strawberry and a delicate cherry blossom florality. In the cup: cantaloupe, orange, strawberry, and cherry blossom.
THE PRODUCER
Hacienda La Esmeralda needs little introduction. In 2004, the Peterson family won the Best of Panama competition with an exceptional Gesha, a variety previously unknown in the region, and in doing so shaped the global reputation of Panamanian Gesha. The farm remains one of the most renowned in the world.
THE PROCESS
Portón 2NB was harvested on January 6, 2026, in the Portón lot of El Vélo farm. After harvest, the cherries were taken to the estate's mill in Palmira, where they were slow-dried for 23 days on raised beds.
The 23-day slow drying on raised beds is the defining step. It's what builds the layered fruit sweetness behind the cantaloupe, orange, and strawberry character, with cherry blossom lifting the finish.
THE CUP
Sweet and floral: cantaloupe and orange lead, strawberry through the middle, and a delicate cherry blossom on the finish.
