INTRO
From Diego Robelo's Aquiares Estate in Turrialba — a sweet, fruit-forward natural showcasing Esperanza, a unique disease-resistant hybrid of Sarchimor and an Ethiopian landrace. Strawberry and tropical fruit lead, finishing on a chocolate milk sweetness. In the cup: strawberry, tropical fruit, and chocolate milk.

THE PRODUCER
This lot comes from Aquiares Estate in Turrialba, managed by producer Diego Robelo, growing Esperanza — a distinctive hybrid variety bred for disease resistance while carrying genetic influence from an Ethiopian landrace.

THE PROCESS
This lot is a Natural — cherries are dried whole, allowing the fruit to impart its character directly into the bean. This approach is what builds the strawberry and tropical fruit sweetness that define this cup, finishing on a smooth chocolate milk note.

THE CUP
Sweet and fruit-forward — strawberry and tropical fruit lead, with a chocolate milk finish. Syrupy and smooth, working equally well for filter brewing and espresso.

About this variety

This variety is recorded for the coffee, but we do not yet have a reviewed typical cup profile for it. The tasting notes for this specific lot are the best guide.

Why this one is different
  • Costa Rica
  • Turrialba
  • 1200 masl
  • Natural

Natural processing often brings a rounder, fruit-led expression, which can make the same variety feel quite different from a washed lot.

Growing conditions in Turrialba at 1200 masl also shape ripening, sweetness, acidity and aroma.

A little background

This is the variety name supplied by the producer or roaster. We preserve that identification without inventing a genetic history.
