About Black & White Roasters
Black and White Coffee Roasters is the brainchild of two US Barista Champions. Founded in 2017, Kyle and Lem were inspired by the coffee they experienced at the competitive level and wanted to make those coffees as widely available as possible.

INTRO
At a blind cupping table, some tasters mistook this cup for a Black Label offering, and it was the best natural Ethiopian the roaster tasted all year, with a rare balance of fruit and florality in equal abundance. Complex florals on the nose and tropical fruit like mango in the cup, with a sweetness akin to blackberry jam that sips like peach iced tea. In the cup: mango, blackberry jam, peach iced tea, and florals.
THE PRODUCER
Hanan Million Getachew founded ASHKIM in 2020, a woman-owned and operated exporting venture in Guji, Ethiopia. She named the family business after her mother, Asha, and her sister, Kimiya, both of whom continue to contribute to daily operations. Hanan is committed to sourcing and exporting high-quality, high-elevation coffees in and around Hambela, and uses both her business and her platform on the International Women's Coffee Alliance to help create better financial and social outcomes for female producers and business owners across the region.
THE PROCESS
After being handpicked at peak ripeness and delivered to the drying station, whole coffee cherries are sorted for quality and spread out on African-style raised beds to dry in the sun.
The sorted, whole-cherry sun drying on raised beds is the defining step. It blurs the lines between variety and processing in a way that's seldom accomplished with naturals, giving both tropical fruit and florals in equal abundance.
THE CUP
Fruit and florals in balance: complex florals on the nose, mango tropical fruit in the cup, a blackberry jam sweetness, and a clean peach iced tea finish.
