INTRO From the Kinini Washing Station in Rulindo, Northern Province — another expression of Rwanda's exceptional terroir, reflecting the same community-driven sustainable model that defines this station. This Bourbon is balanced and nuanced, with cola and honey depth, black tea structure, and a tamarind-lemon brightness threaded through. In the cup: cola, black tea, honey, tamarind, and lemon.
THE PRODUCER Kinini Washing Station serves 48 members from Tumba village, 85% of whom are women — a strong commitment to gender equality in the coffee industry, reflected here in this lot's trade to 24 women in the Abateranankunga Farmer Group. Launched in 2014, Kinini signed lease agreements with local farmers, providing seedlings, training, and organisational support in exchange for cherry delivery commitments. The station operates as a broader community development model, reinvesting 10% of profits into local education and healthcare projects.
THE PROCESS This lot is Washed, a method that removes the fruit before fermentation and drying — letting Bourbon's naturally balanced character come through with delicate nuance, building the cola, honey, and tea-like structure that define this cup.
THE CUP Balanced and delicate — cola and honey sweetness up front, black tea structure through the middle, and a tamarind-lemon brightness on the finish. A nuanced, community-driven expression of Rwandan Bourbon.
