Rumudamo is a high-elevation washing station located in Arbegona, one of the most prized coffee regions in Sidama. Sitting at 2,200 meters above sea level, it draws cherries from roughly 600 smallholder farmers, each cultivating heirloom varieties in cool, forest-influenced microclimates. This altitude—among the highest in Ethiopia—yields coffees with remarkable clarity, florality, and sparkling acidity.
The station is managed by Asefa Dukamo Korma of Daye Bensa, a producer-exporter group responsible for some of Ethiopia’s most celebrated coffees, including numerous Cup of Excellence placements. Their approach combines traditional Ethiopian processing methods with a high level of precision, contributing to the station’s consistently clean and expressive profiles.
PROCESSINGCherries are harvested at peak ripeness and sorted meticulously before being depulped and submerged for 48–72 hours of wet fermentation. After fermentation, the parchment is thoroughly washed and moved to raised beds, where it dries under the sun for 8–12 days, depending on weather conditions.
This careful, slow process produces a bright, layered cup that is both classic and deeply unique to Arbegona.
THE CUPExpect a clean and juicy washed Ethiopian profile with:
• White peach and nectarine sweetness
• Lemon-lime vibrancy and yuzu-like sparkle
• A lifted, perfumed jasmine florality
A beautifully structured coffee with exceptional clarity and complexity—an outstanding representation of Arbegona’s terroir.
