Women’s Crown is a project by Gasharu Coffee, led entirely by women - from harvest to drying. Named after the Urugori, a crown given to Rwandan women after childbirth, the lot honours tradition, resilience, and the role of women in coffee.

With over 70% female staff, the project supports fair income, nutrition, and education. This washed lot is carefully processed: floated and pulped with a McKinnon, dry-fermented for up to 14 hours, then density-sorted. From here, the Grade A beans undergo a second 8-hour fermentation and slow drying on raised beds. Precision and care at every step - carried entirely by experienced hands.

Expect notes of Elderflower, Honey and Loquat

What is the roast recency?

We recommend brewing with beans that are at least two weeks off roast. All beans are roasted to peak flavour at around 6-10 weeks. We have the option to either purchase standard beans (at least 2 weeks but no longer than 6 weeks off roast), or rested beans (at least 7 weeks off roast, no longer than 10). For peak flavour, if you are looking to use immediately, we recommend purchasing the rested beans. If you are adding to your rotation of beans, we recommend purchasing the standard and allowing the beans to naturally rest and mature whilst you rotate through other beans.
