Honduras — Glenda Karina El Piñal Parainema (Natural, 2026 Best of Parainema #3)

Tastes Like — 🍓 Strawberry Jam • 🫐 Blackcurrant • 🍵 Earl Grey Tea

DETAILS

  • Producer: Glenda Karina
  • Farm: El Piñal
  • Country: Honduras
  • Varietal: Parainema
  • Process: Natural
  • Altitude: 1,360 masl
  • Harvest: February 2026
  • Recognition: 3rd place, 2026 The Best of Parainema

INTRO
The new-crop natural Parainema from El Piñal, which placed third in the 2026 Best of Parainema competition. In the cup: strawberry jam, blackcurrant, and Earl Grey tea.

THE PRODUCER
El Piñal is owned by Glenda Karina, who has been growing Parainema since 1995. Alongside her commitment to improving coffee quality, she supports families in need by providing employment opportunities for local workers.

THE PROCESS
After harvest, the cherries are carefully hand-sorted to select only fully ripe fruit. They rest for two days before moving to a covered drying area, where they dry slowly for approximately 30 days.

The two-day rest followed by a slow, 30-day covered dry is the defining combination. It builds the jammy sweetness behind the strawberry and blackcurrant character.

THE CUP
Jammy and tea-like: strawberry jam and blackcurrant lead, with a bergamot-tinged Earl Grey finish.

About this variety

This variety is recorded for the coffee, but we do not yet have a reviewed typical cup profile for it. The tasting notes for this specific lot are the best guide.

Why this one is different
  • Honduras
  • 1360 masl
  • Natural

Natural processing often brings a rounder, fruit-led expression, which can make the same variety feel quite different from a washed lot.

The listed growing altitude of 1360 masl is another reason this coffee may differ from the same variety grown elsewhere.

A little background

This is the variety name supplied by the producer or roaster. We preserve that identification without inventing a genetic history.
