THE PRODUCER The Buku washing station is named for the kebele, or village, where the coffee is harvested. Growers from the surrounding community bring their cherries to this station at METAD's 200-hectare farm in Hambela for processing, sourced through SNAP. Coffee from the Buku kebele grows at 1,900–2,250 masl.

Heirloom refers to a variety of coffee plants native to Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee — genetically diverse, often grown in wild or semi-wild conditions, and prized for their unique, complex flavour profiles spanning floral, fruity, and spicy characteristics.

THE PROCESS This lot is a Natural, sun-dried on raised beds, allowing the fruit of the coffee cherry to dry on the seed and develop a sweet complexity.

This whole-cherry raised-bed drying is the defining step — it's what builds the honeydew melon and cherry sweetness that define this cup, alongside its clean honey finish.

THE CUP Sweet and complex — honeydew melon and cherry lead, with tropical fruit character running throughout and a clean honey finish. High sweetness and balanced acidity throughout.
